Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

No fake news, Bertold? Great!

The noise in the Netherlands about the Nashville manifest seems to have effect; the diehards shut their churchdoors and no longer communicate with the big bad outside world, many other church people try to ameliorate their statements: "I understood it differently and I respect everyone...." Ha!!? The justice ministry is doing an investigation about the Nashville manifest being an offense against the constitution and the rainbow flag flies from many town halls. And I'm looking for my rainbow scarf.

Comment by Patricia yesterday

Hope it gets much publicity.

The news we've been waiting for???

This isn't satire.

Link between brain damage and religious fundamentalism established by scientists

Raw Story
A study published in the journal Neuropsychologia has shown that religious fundamentalism is, in part, the result of a functional impairment in a brain region known as the prefrontal cortex. The findings suggest that damage to particular areas of the prefrontal cortex indirectly promotes religious fundamentalism by diminishing cognitive flexibility and openness—a psychology term that describes a personality trait which involves dimensions like curiosity, creativity, and open-mindedness.

Thanks Ian, and to my big relief hundreds of people have filed police reports. As a six weeks old lesbian I want to make a lot of noise!

Comment by Ian Mason on Monday

Good for you, Chris. Make all the noise you can. Most people are fairly unconcerned about what others do. It's just the hysterical religious and bigoted types that make a fuss. They need drowning out.

Comment by Plinius on Monday

Signing petitions and spread them, both of us filed police reports, that feels a lot better!

Comment by Plinius on Monday

Positive action! Here it's still unconstitutional to discriminate against people, petitions are starting and police reports are filed.

Comment by Joan Denoo on Monday

Plinius, your experiences with people judging you simply because you do not conform to their notion of "normal" is the tragedy?of religion. Their hypocrisy?reeks of hate while claiming love is the sin. There must be resistance go that new?

250 Dutch Pastors Just Signed the Anti-LGBTQ “Nashville Statement”

"According to [Dutch newspaper] Trouw, the 250 male signatories come from, among others, the Restored Reformed Church, the Reformed Congregations and the Christian Reformed Churches and the Protestant Church in the Netherlands (PKN).

"One of the opponents of the pamphlet is Willem Smouter, the pastor in Apeldoorn and chairman at the [Christian broadcasting network] EO. He writes on Twitter: “I want to say as clearly as possible: do not believe this! Whatever your identity is, male or female, Jew or heathen, gay or straight, you are welcome in God’s house.”

~?Willem Smouter, pastor in Apeldoorn and chairman at the [Christian broadcasting network]

A theme for a resistance movement can be:?

"Whatever your identity is, male or female, Jew or heathen, gay or straight, you are welcome in God’s house.”

Well, you know you have our support here, and hopefully, you have the support that is heard and seen in public places and by many people.

I wonder how many other pastors in your?area will stand up for LGBTQ and will have that as the theme of their sermons and bible studies. Remind them that the christian worldview is supposed to bring Harmony and order at all levels, from the lowliest insect to the cosmos.

Here we go again....I cannot stand people who will not mind their own business.

Comment by Plinius on Monday

It's bad and we can see it everywhere! Apart from that, we've lived together for 41 years as a rather decent hetero couple and because of a status change (NO change in lifestyle!) we're suddenly judged, talked about and they try to make our love into something dirty and disgusting. It will take me some time to get used to that.
