The World's Largest Coalition of Nontheists and Nontheist Communities!
Do I matter??
No! I don’t matter! The point isn’t to depress you or me. I am not that important.? The central issue is, I don’t matter. It is a delusion to think that I matter, that I am powerful or weak. Denial holds me in delusions.
What does matter? The planet, soils, water, air, & life matters.
I will vanish, unremembered, like the…Continue
Some time back, I was watching a conference on YouTube, featuring some notable high-end audio equipment designers. What does that have to do with atheism, you might well ask. Well, one of the designers present, in talking about design theory and best practices, made mention of being “skeptical” of these standards, and then he dropped the following bombshell:
In a battle between theory and the real world, the real world always wins.
-- Kevin Hayes, VAC
My God - The majority of religions talk in terms of My God. My God is ownership of God. My God invariably becomes a collective Our God, truth, and dogma. Our God dogma makes us right and you wrong. Or, us being saved and you being damned. Harris proposed, "the central tenant of every religious tradition is that all others are mere repositories of error or, at least, dangerously incomplete. Intolerance is thus intrinsic to every creed." (2004) Dogma makes our religion having an exclusive…Continue
PROBABLY THE MOST COMMON PURPOSE OF PRAYER IS:?
-- to ask God to do things – fulfill requests, grant favours, and generally use his supernatural powers to act on behalf of the petitioner. Internet prayer request pages overflow with theists asking others to pray for them so that they may be healed of sickness and injuries or delivered from financial troubles
However, as an application of simple logic shows, any prayer that asks God for anything is pointless. Is…Continue
What do you think of the Doctrine of Infallibility? For me, this doctrine correlates with inerrancy. For religions, infallibility includes saying my/our religion can't err because I/we have the Truth. Infallibility is about being right absolutely and without exception. Infallibility proclaims the inerrancy of the Bible. In 1870, the Roman Catholic Church formally announced the doctrine of papal infallibility on matters of faith and doctrine. However, all religions have some doctrinal forms…Continue

My copy of FFRF’s Freethought Today recently went upside my head with a statement quoted on Page 3 of their November 2018 issue:
The bottom line is that while church and state are formally separated, religious legislators are still driven by their religious beliefs when voting in the Senate on all issue areas. This mechanism circumvents the formal separation of church and state and brings religion into politics through the back door.
-- Daniel Arnon, Emory…
What do you think of the concept of Fideism? For me, fideists are those religious addicts who have beliefs not based on reason or logic. For me, fideism puts reasoning to sleep. It really amounts to an abdication of the working brain’s critical thinking skills of analysis and synthesis. Fideism is concrete reactive thinking and a mechanical interaction with life. Schopenhauer said, “faith and knowledge are related as the scales of a balance; when one goes up, the other goes down.” (19th…Continue
Here are some views on dogma. What do you think??Dogma?is a major factor that leads to a theology of separation. We all have access to a Natural Moral Code predating any man-made religious beliefs. However, we interpret universal moral codes the way we experience life. Universal moral codes are interpreted by a human nature that includes solipsism. Religions are man-made interpretation of nature-made universal moral codes based on their experience of Nature and human…Continue
? So I feel a feel a bit akward now. I first came to this site as a scared just out of the closet atheist. I grew up here and have now come out in the open with my actual name and even now show my face(beware.)
?This site has been everthing to me. I would not be doing what I am if it was not for you good folks. That is no crap. Now I have a Youtube channel that i would no have if it was not for you. I do not make any money on it at all. It is simply a different way to reach people,…Continue
It's been a long time since I've visited this site.? Many things have changed.? Life has been a bit of a whirlwind in recent years, so I haven't had as much time to sit down and ponder the universe.
I live in Japan now - that's exciting!? After two years in China, I went back home for a bit, worked part-time at a call center for a bit (a terrible yet enlightening experience), and then after the notoriously long interview process finally?landed a job in Japan teaching…Continue
Some time ago I saw this quote:
"It’s a strange myth that atheists have nothing to live for. It’s the opposite. We have nothing to die for. We have everything to live for" --- Ricky Gervais
This galvanized the dormant muse in me & inspired me to type out the following free verse:

I first learned this idea from Neil Gaiman's books of which I am a fan. According to his books (see American Gods) , once a god loses his flock of believers, he (or she) loses his powers and then he vanishes. Following this logic, any deity is interested in growing its number of believers. This would explain the missionary activities of various religions.
? There might be an additional grim aspect of the gods created by men:
? ?The believers who die in their name also increase…Continue

In the Prologue of my book, I wrote in my mid-twenties there ignited in me an intense battle centered around a childhood supernatural worldview, and building a definitional worldview that I could live by. This dualistic battle amounted to my gethsemane, or my own noche oscura del alma ---> “dark night of the soul.” My dualistic battle became a daunting task to repeal-and-replace an obsolete worldview. My dualistic battlefield became a fierce insistent, persistent, consistent internal…Continue

I am FURIOUS … again. With the advent of the new film, Boy Erased, and renewed attention to the “business” of conversion therapy, I am reminded once again of the arrogance displayed by the evangelical Christian community in thinking that, because Yahweh condemned men for loving other men and women for loving other women, that it was somehow incumbent on them to attempt to correct this supposed flaw in their personalities. Also reminding me of this issue was…Continue
?I would like to thank everyone here on Atheist Nexus! This was the first atheist community I felt comfortable with. As a result I have not only come out here but have grown into an activist. Here is a short intorduction to my YouTube channel that would not havve happened if it was not for YOU!

Dualistic religions preach about saints and sinners. We have sanctimonious preachers who appear to enjoy ranting about the raining down of fire from Heaven on us earthly sinners. Dualistic religions introduced the supernatural forces of saints and devils, and good angels competing with bad angels. Religions created farfetched opposing superbeings constantly in battle competing for the souls of us ordinary bone-blood humans. Unfortunately, many individuals pay homage to these outlandish…Continue
The “new normal” becomes yet more virulent. On Saturday, 27 October, 2018, a gunman entered the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and opened fire, killing 11 of the congregants. Four police officers were also wounded when they responded to the incident before the assailant was taken into custody. Investigation into his background yielded results which were predictable to the point of being almost intuitively obvious. He was extremely anti-Semite, and while superficially a…Continue
